Alright. I surrender....I've been fiddling with this painting for over a month now. Hours upon hours of refining and detailing and now that I look at it, it isn't much detail. I don't ever want to paint another feather for as long as I live!!! The original size was crazy big. And it looks like a good amount of detail was clipped. So I will probably post at least face details. This is for 's contest on mythical creatures/beings. There are a bunch of good entries in so it'll be a challenge. If I don't win, then I hope at least this will be notice as something that wasn't done overnight. It took forever and some parts were just killers. Oh, and I also used some of her brushes for it as well. Hope you like.

I give you Eos, the Dawn Goddess. Sister to Helios and Selene. She is the one who spilts the sky between the sun and the moon and is also known as the keeper of the keys to the gates of heaven. I wanted to have gold light shine on her to represent the coming of the Sun God, Helios, but I wanted a bluish moon light behind her to represent Selene. Eos, in some books I've read, releases Selene into slumber and opens the gate with rosy fingers for Helios. So I wanted to make her hands a gold with rose petals shooting out. Her brooch is of the morning star and sometimes people related her to that as well when she disappears into the sky after Helios rides into Heaven. If you wish to read more about her, read here:
